I have a strange problem. I have a freshly rebuilt M21, Mcleod street twin with aluminum flywheel, Lakewood BH, adjustable pivot ball and stock fork. This is in a Corvette. All of this stuff is new with only about 800 miles on it. The problem is when driving it the other day, when stopped I would start to let out the clutch and it would immediately grab and spin the tires. From a slight roll or downhill start it was fine and also fine when rowing through the gears. Very strange feeling. Every now and then it would not happen, so was somewhat intermittent.
When I got home I put it up on stands. The linkage, including fork seemed normal. Motor mounts and transmission mount are new and normal. I did not see any oil drip from mainseal area (engine is new also). I did not have anyone around to mash the clutch pedal while I was under the car but pedal feels normal. Am I right to assume that the flywheel must be moving backwards, eliminating my free play. Any ideas? I am stumped. Thanks.

I'm not an expert by any means, but how can your flywheel be moving back? It could be heat making things expand so you may need to compensate by adjusting the clutch linkage to give you more travel.

Ron, I meant the whole engine moving backwards. I hear you but the thing that stumps me is why would it be intermittent. It seems if it needed adjustment it would be all the time. I don't know but I will work on it today.

its gotta be in the adjustment or you dont have the fork on the pivot right. Is the throwout bearing new? but it cant be the engine or flywheel moving since the pressure plate is bolted to the flywheel.
