I finally fiqured out why my car only startes ever once in a while. there is a box on top of the steering column (the one the rod goes to when i turn the key) well ever time i turn the key the top of the box moves up ( either the bolt came out or the bolt is broken) well i needs some suggestions. i have not looked yet at the box but i am going to get a mirror to see what i could see, i might remove my seat to get to it cause it it so tight of a spot.
anyway maybe you could help me out on this
1. what exactly is that box called, is it the ignition swich,(not the key cylinder ignition switch) i cant find ANY thing about it on the internet or in books or on chevelle.com.
2. is that a special bolt that goes into it to hold it to the column, i was looking in restoration magazines for chevelle but still could not find anyting
3. hopefully the bolt just fell out and did not brake off, if so and i find a replacement bolt do i have to adjust the box and if so how
i had to move my chevelle a few months ago and i had to keep my hand on the box and wiggle it with the key in the start postions to crank
any other input about this or any precautions or suggestions would be appreicated
