Has anyone used this kit? I was kind of considering using it on my 71 chevelle. I had thought about that or hotchkis. My car is mostly a driver but i plan to drag it a little bit and i just would like to replace the stock rear control arms and such. Any pros and cons to any kit would be great. What does every body run and how do they like it, and what do you think is the "best" all around rear end kit. Thanks a lot!!

If the choices are HTH truck-arm or a Hotchkis C4L the HTH kit wins hands down. The truck arm kit does everything better than the C4L, period.

Except leave you enough room to run your exhaust out the back. :p

I'm somewhat surprised to see you say this Dennis. I was under the impression you weren't a fan of the truckarms. You may have just pushed me off the fence on my decision to buy it. Thanks.

I prefer the 3-link but have realized not everybody wants to cut their car apart. If you want a pretty good upgrade without major surgery than the truck-arm is the way to go.

Guys who are considering truckarms, you might want to wait a bit. Metal Works Performance Engineering is coming out with an A-body truckarm kit shortly that they promise leaves enough room for running exhaust all the way out the back. I know they have done this on a '69 Chevelle they have right now. The front crossmember for the truckarms also has a drop-out tranny mount, provisions for exhaust pass-through, and also has an integral driveshaft loop.

Looks like it will be a very nice kit. I won't say better than the HTH kit, because the MWPE kit isn't quite finalized yet, but it looks intriguing enough that if you're considering the HTH kit you should probably wait and see what the MWPE kit has over and/or gives up to the HTH kit.

Well thanks a lot guys. I was surprised to get so many responses from you, so will no exhaust work to come out the back? I just spent about $500 on new exhaust its 2.5" with flowmaster tail pipes. that come straight out the back. So are you telling me the HTH wont work with my exhaust? If so then im screwed b/c their kit really sounded like an awesome one. What all do you have to do to install a HTH kit compared to the hotchkis kits and also how much does the HTH kit cost? They dont say anywhere on their web site. Thanks a lot guys.

Regardless of which truckarm kit you go with, you will have to re-do your new exhaust-- no way around that. Consider it part of the total upgrade cost.

The HTH kit is pretty tight under the car; you have to scoot the mufflers forward and either run turndowns or dump the exhaust in front of the rear tires. There just doesn't seem to be enough room to snake tailpipes around the truckarms and across the large panhard bar mount. I've never seen out the back exhaust on an HTH A-body truckarm kit; I always see mufflers hanging low (because they can no longer fit in the recess in the floorpan) and before the tire exits. The only HTH truckarm install I've seen where they managed to fit out the back exhaust was on a F-body.

MWPE's kit promises enough room for out the back exhaust, and the prelim pictures on their website shows just that. That's a huge plus for their kit IMO, as I'm not a fan of turndowns or in front of the back tire exit... too annoying and loud for a street car, at least for me, not to mention the added risk of exhaust and CO entering the passenger compartment during prolonged idling.
