I was wondering if any of the engine builders who either own a shop or work for someone else building engines from day to day have ever heard of this. 10 to 15 grams of over balance added to the bobweight.
Thanks Heath

We over balance rotators when they spin them over 8000 RPM as we build and maintain two blower engines that run 9200 and on those 2 engines we overbalance them 2% and I have talk to Rick at Kings crankshaft and he says some of the cup guys were up to 4% over balance on the engines that were doing the 10000 rpm as he says its easier on the bearings and sould never under balance as thats when you run into trouble.

What Carl said,,

It is a hi RPM deal & seems to help bearing life according to some.
Having too much counterweight up to a point doesn't seem to hurt anything but too little is not an accepted practice for anything I know of,,

For almost all V8 combos under 7500RPM continuous or so use 50%,, been working for years & it is sometimes best not to "reinvent the wheel" :D
Especially if you don't have the ability to measure what it is you are trying to improve which very few places,, myself included do not,,,
