What is the best way to remove the stock bellhousing dowell pins located on the engine block? I have a BBC 454 block. I have tried heating them and pounding on them with a punch, but they don't want to move at all. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

Which way are you pounding them? The must go from front to back on the BBC.

Thanks you were right....I tapped them and use a slide hammer to pull them out...from the front...
