According to the Vin# it was originally a 350-2barrell. Not a 454 SS.

Yep, it would be a 'dubya' if it were really a SS454 not a H

Not only is it NOT a SS454 but it may not even be a real SS. :( The 454 mandated the SS package, on the 402 and both 350s it was optional.

No cars came standard with gauges or tachometer. Those were always extra cost options that had to be ordered. Its a big misconception that an SS came with bucket seats, floor shift, console, gauges (tach) etc. If the customer did not order them, it had a bench seat, AT on the colum, etc

Yea, the SS package wasn't standard with an 402. But what is more rare a BB Malibu or an SS Chevelle? Just something to ponder.. :p

Ahh but which is most sought after, that is the question.

I think more people are familiar with the term SS. But the Malibu with the BB is much rarer and as time goes on and the rarity is realized the price will dramatically rise. I think the Malibu 400 BB is going to go from sleeper to one of the rare sought afters or at least I hope so. :D This is a response that I received from Greg from GMHC.

Nelson, yes, I did get the information. neat car but I can't say I've ever seen or heard of another one like it. Lucky you have the buildsheet.

Regards.
