a suspect has been arrested and his parents and girlfriend's parent's homes should be being searched as I type this.

My younger son and a buddy of his figured out who it was and they were able to catch him trading in three of the video systems he stole from my son. The moron didn't erase the memory cards so the police were able to turn them on and view all of my sons information and registration. Thank god low life's are stupid.

As I predicted, it was a kid that both of my boys knew and that played tennis with my younger son. He has been in our house before. He is the son of a well off family that lives in the "up-scale" development on the out-skirts of town.

I am hoping that he has not been able to get rid of the rest of our stuff and that most of it will be discovered. The cops tell me the kid will prob ally not get much time as they don't have enough evidence to charge him with B&E yet. They only have him for procession of stolen property at this point but it is a start.

Keep your fingers crossed that they can hang his ass.

They should beat it first, then let you beat it, then hang it. Glad to see they caught this pinhead Rick.

Excellent.

Work diligently to burn this little punk. If he gets little to no time, take his picture, put it on a flyer with "BEWARE - THIEF IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD" Above his photo. Then you and your boys spend a nice afternoon plastering the neighborhood with them. In the event that you have issues with ID theft later, hold this police report and if they locate the person responsible for it, work to trace it back to this kid and then slap the family hardcore with a civil suit.

If all else fails, just ask your boys to give this little SOB the beatdown he deserves and chalk it up to "kids will be kids", then take em out for ice cream and a movie to celebrate.

:hurray: That's AWESOME! Upscale kid huh? You know, when I was in high school, it was the upscale kids that were sticking it to their own "friends". Must be a trend.

MM, you're the kind of guy I would call for advice on this stuff. Whether it works or not, trying your ideas out sounds like fun, LOL.

Way cool Rick. I know you feel like beating him but there are other ways to deal with him. Inform the Feds about what's going on yet? Keep them in the loop. How about the local press? "Suspect Found in Break-in of Prominent Professor's House.

YES! Very Cool Rick,

If possible, I'd love to hear how your son put it together that this was the punk who broke in. And since his family has $$, if they prove the B&E, you should sue the hell out of them for any and all losses

:hurray: :hurray:

I am happy for you, here's hoping the rest of your stuff turns up safe, especially the irreplaceable items.

I don't think I would be able to keep quiet around the police about how if maybe they would have taken some prints at the house, maybe they would have something for the B&E charge.

Good luck

Glad to hear he was caught and your getting some of you items back. My brothers house was broken into and they caught the guy about a year later. Turns out he was keeping the items he took at a storage place and my brother got most of the items back. My brothers house is like fort knox now. Hope you get everything back.

Rick,

Thats great. Its amazing that your son was able to find out who it was before the cops could. I hope you can get everything back and the kid will get the punishment he deserves!!

hold the phone.

They went through both places, nothing. Kid claims an old buddy of his, that he had not seen in a long time, and he doesn't know where he is now, ask him to take the stuff in to the gaming store for him and his girl friend and he, supposedly were having dinner with witnesses at the time of the robbery, They have the receipt and the girls brother was with them, he is the witness!!! Even though he has a dark blue neon, like seen here during the robbery, and he traded in the three game machine, the cops let him walk out while they look for Mr. X.

Hang in there Rick. Although Barney & Andy aren't that bright, hopefully they'll figure it out and get the jerk!

Barney ain't too bright, but the biggest mistake the crooks always made was underestimating Andy. Let's hope Andy's quietly working on this.

Guys, remember how our system works. If they charge him and then can't get enough evidence to go to a Grand Jury and ultimately to prosecute in a timely manner he walks and can't be charged again for the same crime. If they can get enough evidence they will THEN formally charge him. If they can, the girlfriend and her brother will go down with him for perjury and/or aiding and abetting. Hopefully the cops will be able to follow through on the rest of their job.

Your son should follow the punk around to try to determine where he hid the rest of the loot.

And do remember, Rick, as a college professor, has an "above-reproach" job. Meaning he can't go around kicking stones nor can his kid without perhaps having job trouble.
This kid sounds stupid. He'll crack.

He was one of the kids my kid told about the break-in the same night it happened and he was told that someone saw the car. That has given time to realize that we might be onto him and dump the stuff.

I've pretty much concluded the stuff is gone. It is putting him in a hole for a few years that interests me. Revenge..... yea revenge.

The kid's parents are backing them. How could you as a parent see this and not think, yea he could have done it. To many coincidences for my taste. I'd be beating the truth out of my kid instead of backing his story. How many teenagers, or adults for the matter keep a lunch receipt for a week?

The kid had my kids machines, regardless of how he came across them that should still be possession of stolen property shouldn't it? He had just been told by my son that all of our machines had been stolen and he has an old buddy ask him to pawn 75% of what he just heard had been stolen and he doesn't make the connection?

Professor, I'll lend you a dull, rusty knife. You can post pictures of his severed parts at your leisure.

I had a break-in 23 or so years ago. He stole my tools and my fishing stuff. I later learned who it was through a young hooligan who is now serving time for murder one. When I personally saw the alleged perpetrator, he acted like my long lost buddy. Funny, this is exactly how another guy acted towards my friend after he stole his car stereo.

I was pretty sure he did it although I had no hard evidence. He was driving a '73 'Cuda 340. Out of respect for the car, not the low-life, I never harmed his car. Last I heard, the creep was in prison for something else anyway.

Don't underestimate good parenting and abstaining from alcohol during pregnancy!

BTW, prof, years ago my daughter saw a little stuffed animal at her school that she wanted. She took it home. When we found out, we owned up to it, and she was grounded and had many privileges taken away. That was in kindergarten. She is finishing grade 6 soon and has never attempted any such thing ever again (she's a very good kid!)
