I believe that a 69 jack should have semi-gloss black paint with a silver cad plated shaft. Could someone please verify the jack coloring. Didn't jacks change from gray to black in 68?
I have a blue jack that I was told was form the 70's. Would that jack be the same except for color?
thanks,
Mike

My 68 jack the mast is silver cad.the body is black. Its the solid T bar shaft. The 69 i have seen are tubular but same color. The hook that are removable, are black look the same just dated 68or 69.Only jack i have seen in blue was for a 73.Doesn't have a removable hook all one piece that fits in a narrow slot in the bumpers.

I have got an original 1969 jack in good shape. I'll try to remember to look at it when I get home, PM me to remind me if necessary.

Original jack in my '69 is silver cad colored, square, tubular shaft. Body with removable hook is painted black. Not sure if it is semi-gloss. Removable base is also the same black color.

I have a blue base that is labeled U70 but not sure exactly what it came from.
My original 69 jack has a tubular shaft that is silver cad. The shaft is an isosceles trapezoid shape (wow pulled that out from way back in high school geometry). The base and hook are semigloss black.
I bought a supposed original 69 jack from a guy in Canada (Canadian built 4 door 69 Chevelle). It had a square tubular shaft. I thought it was wrong for the 69 Chevelle. Are some of them square?

That's just about what mine looks like too (I'm pretending to know what an isosceles trapezoid is :D). As far as I can see, the shaft is painted, but the silver color actually looks just like it's galvanized. The black parts are a bit glossier than semi-gloss, it's more like the finish you get when you spray a very thin coat of gloss black (I guess it's dipped).
One funny thing I haven't noticed before is that the jack is stamped "CHEVELLE 1969". I thought the jacks were some kind of generic GM one-size-fits-all, but obviously, they're not.

All the hooks should be stamped CHEVELLE 1969 some of the bases are also stamped U69. Not all bases are stamped U69. I checked all the jack shafts at Chevell-a-bration and one 69 which was an all original survivor had a square shaft all the others that were correct were trapazoid.
