Hey guys,
I lost my 283/327 conversion motor to a cracked cylinder wall. Not even 150 miles on it. The machine shop is building me a 355 to replace it. The heads are also being built there, since the guy at AM Performance on EBay screwed me by sending me mis-matched built and casting heads.
My Queston is does anyone have the intake runner size, combustion chamber size, and stock valve size for the 416 casting heads he is building me?
I checked mortec.com not enough info.

I figure if the -416's are off a 305HO motor, they just may be about 160 cc's intake port size and around anywhere from 55 to 58/59 cc's chamber size-wise!! And should have 1.84"/1.50" valves..

PS, my (2) 305HO, -601's were 164 and 161 cc's and 55 and 53 cc's chamber sized b/c I measured them AND I was pleasantly supprised b/c I want to put them or my good big valve -291's on my either 283 or 301 motor depending?????..
AND they were so ratty, I figure they had ta be virgins...
BTW, a -416 head's chamber looks squared off like a W/P's 305 torquer or a stock smog head whereas the -601 looks like a smaller, rounder, old -461 double-hump type chamber with a double quench in it.

Hey, I feel for you Sean. I too got caught up in the deal with AM Performance on Ebay. I went up to a salvage yard one day when going north to do some shopping, and wasn't happy with the collection of heads there. A lot of smog heads to sort through. So that day when we got home I did some searching on Ebay and came up to a couple of his auctions. I wanted to get some heads in line for my 383 I was building at school, so I ended up ordering them, after a couple emails from him. He talked up the heads, and convinced me that they're good. While trial assembling the engine, I noticed powdercoating falling off of the combustion chambers onto the piston tops. And to this day, i'm also still blowing oil out of the exhaust. I don't think its a problem with the rings as I have excellent compression, which I would think would make it valve seals. Also, after the "work" that they do to them, you can't be too sure what size combustion chambers they have which is too sketchy for me and doesn't make me happy.
If you would like more info on the heads or would like to talk more, let me know.
