I am running a Carter mech .120gph pump with braided -8an lines from tank pick up line to pump and made the carb inlets in the same lines -8an braided lines .

If I go with the 172 gph pump it will help or this -8an lines needs a bigger fuel pump? or I should try both in series electric to pull from the tank (upgraded pick up line that is 1/2" ) and the mech at the at the front ?????

I ask because I installed a lower rear gear just to try it and had fuel problems that day ,I installed the old rear ratio gear back but do not want to be on the edge running out of fuel ,the car needs more jets but I am worry that it may run out of fuel again at the top end .Please help

This Carter fuel pumps 120gph and the 172gph will work with the -8an lines = (1/2")??

This post has 172 pump info.

Your 8AN line is plenty for 12.54 ET. 172 comes with a jumbo 10AN fitting on the inlet side. You can swap it out to a 8AN or get adapters to go from your 8AN line to the 10AN fitting.

When I was running 12 flat with 3900lbs car, 454 .030 over, stick......I had stock 1970 SS 3/8 line from the tank into a Holley 454-2 mechanical pump into a 3/8 regulator with 3/8 lines to carb.

172 pump is plenty for guys in the 10's. Plenty of fuel supply.

Cannot say the 120 is enough. I don't know. It might be enough, but I have not seen guys going fast with that pump. Might not be able to "keep up" at high RPM with a thirsty big block.

Good luck, Joe

Thanks Joe ,I hope the -8an line works with the 172 ,there are a lot of cars as you mentioned that runs 3/8 line with the 172gph .

I ran 11.30's at 117+ mph with the 3/8 factory line and the 172.
