heddman says not to break in an engine with their elite hedders, can cause them to discolor.Anybody have this problem? Is there any way to fix this problem after it occurs?

I have the elite hedders. Prior to install, I hung them with coat hanger wire and used my propane torch (actually used MAP gas - hotter flame) to pretreat my headers. Blew the lit torch into each tube and then the collector for maybe 2 - 3 minutes/tube then let cool prior to install. I usually use this method to cure painted headers. Just make sure to keep the torch moving to distribute the heat.

do you put the flame on the outside of the hedders also?

No. just blow it through the tubes - simulate exhaust gas. Just won't get as hot becuase you do not have the volume of fuel nor the combustion pressure of the runing motor. But this does get the headers a lot closer to cured. You'll be surprised how hot those tubes will get all the way through.

PS - Hang them by the collector when heating the primaries ( heat rises).

Good luck.
