: How to Remove 4-door Trim

My 67 4-door had a broken rear side window, and when he couldn't find just the glass, the previous owner located a door w/ the glass and installed it on the car. The door is all bondoed up, and just generally in bad shape, but I got the old door, which is in good shape, with the car. I've removed the glass, handles etc. but cannot figure out two things. There is a chrome piece which runs over the window frame, and I have no idea how to get it off. I don't want to pry on it for fear of denting it (it's hard to find 4-doors with any trim.) Also, I can't figure out what holds the aluminum strip which runs near the bottom of the door on. There is a screw on each end, but on the inside there looks like oval shaped pieces of plastic sticking through into the door. Any ideas on how to remove this trim would be appreciated. Thanks,

Rob

COPO427;

I have 1 1968 Chevelle and it has bodyside trim similar to the '67. Like yours, mine had fasteners at each end. There is additional plastic clips underneath the trim that are attached to the body via metal studs. If it is anything like mine, just start at one end and lightly pull the trim away from the body, pry up from the top or bottom of the trim piece, you will hear the clips pop when it is free. Just be careful and slowly work your way down the door to the opposite end from which you started. That should be it, but don't quote me, I have a '68, Good Luck!!

Thanks for the advice Tony. I did like you said, and the trim came right off! I also got the main part of the door frame trim off, but am struggling with the last piece.

Rob, glad I could help, but unfortunately I don't have a clue about removing that last piece of trim. Some, like the drip rail molding on my car, just snap into place, there may not be any fasteners.
