I am striping my hood down to bare metal top side is great. the under side had a big area were it was rusting and pitting. Got as much as I can but going over the pitted areas with sand paper the rust never seems to end The metal is not weak but it seems like the pitting goes deep can I just primer over it and will it last since this car wont see much of the weather????

If you primer over it, it will rust again. Rust never sleeps.......Sounds like a perfect case for POR-15

Thanks for the info. that was one of my ideas to do but can i just do the pitted areas with por15 because I am going to get the trunk/floorpan kit from them mainly to do my back window channel ,I saw a article in C.H.P.

Try using a wire wheel on a grinder. Then use POR-15 over the rusted area.
No matter what POR says, I can't believe it will last too long if there is pitting with rust chunks still stuck in the pits. Those spots will rust and cause the POR to peel from the back.

The POR15 when properly applied "will" stop the rust from goimg any further. The idea behind the POR15 is it will seal out air/moisture so that oxidation can't occur. I did a rusted battery tray 7 years ago and it still looks like the day I first put the POR15 on.
