To remove old spatter paint, can I just spread the "aircraft stripper" by brush on it? I'm having a new 3 piece trunk installed, but would also like to clean up around the trunk and repaint it all at the same time so it all matches....

Thanks,

That's exactly how I did mine. It's a slow messy job but it worked. I found that the splatter paint scraped off really easy after the stripper soaked in but the red factory primer is another story. The red stuff really wanted to stay so I figured I'd leave it on there.

The fumes can knock you out in a very short time. Keep the area very well ventilated and dont stay near it for a long period.

I want to add something.

I did this to a car with a crappy paint job so I wasnt too concerned about messing it up. If you aren't willing to risk ruining your exterior paint then I would probably not use a chemical stripper. The stripper gets in all the nooks and cranies and can find it's way to the exterior. For me this wasnt a big issue but for you it might be.

Thanks Clark. I think that's what I'm going to do. Car is at the body shop, but paint will come later. Thanks again, somnetimes I just need to "verify" my ideas to make sure. They seem so simple sometimes, but just want to make sure I don't overlook anything....

Thanks again,
