Noticed a noise today with the new convertor and trans. It sounds like a rubbing/grinding noise. The only time I hear it is when I footbrake and rev it up and to a lesser extent when I punch it from a standstill. Any ideas? I don't want to hurt anything. This is my first stall convertor, so maybe this is normal? I haven't picked up a dust cover for the convertor yet, but I don't think that has much to with it.
Thanks

That is not normal as far as I know. Dust covers have nothing to do with it. Take it in to get looked at.

Check the converter bolts.I had some come loose on a car of mine years ago.Only made a noise when I would rev it past 4k rpms.

Who installed it, was flex plate OK, depending how old the flex plate is you should use a new one. were bolts to Converter changed and maybe a touch too long and were the bolts tightened down, it happens..

I had some gringing noise coming from my trans, It turned out to be a broken motor mount.

Check the trans mount and look to see if the flywheel is rubbing on the starter.
Thanks guys. I will look into all these things as soon as it quits raining. I had a mechanic at work install it (I helped). The flexplate is the original. I personally didn't inspect it. It didn't make any kind of noise with the old powerglide and 2500 rpm convertor. I used the same bolts. These were new about 2 years ago when I put the convertor in the glide. We did have a problem with one of the transmission mount bolts. It would not thread in all the way. Not sure if it was stripped or had been cross-threaded at one point. I tightened as much as as I could, but still ended up putting two washers and a rubber spacer to shim it. I was hoping it would be okay but maybe it isn't.
Also I re-used the old trans. mount bushing. It looked pretty crappy. Would this have any effect.
