i have a problem on my 70 where the vinyl roof meets the quarter panel, the paint has bubbled up and popped in some spots. Ia going to have it fixed soon and i was wondering if I had the vinyl top removed and painted like the rest of the car, would this prevent the paint from ever bubbling up again. THe paint is in overall good shape on rest of car. the color is Classic White

As long as the rust is completely removed, yes, taht will work. A few things to note here: The bubbles are probably resulting from the installation of the vinyl top. Many so-called expert installers took a razor knife and cut the excess material off of the vinyl. This gouged through the paint to expose bare metal. Moisture is retained underneath that trim piece. That's where the rust & bubbles started. Those locations demand a repaint of the entire quarter panels to look good. To remove the vinyl for good, It will take some work to straighten out the roof and rear pillars as the factory really took short cuts there seeing a vinyl roof was going on. I would retain the vinyl and just be carefull who does the trim work.
