I bought a "U.S. Safety" half-face respirator (yellow/black) here in Houston 2 years ago and after using it for painting lately it is time for new filters and cartridges. I talked to U.S. Safety and they gave me a # for an industrial supply company here that wanted to sell me a box of 6 for $30. Does anybody use this brand and know where I can find replacements for these. I'm looking for the 158-T-20 cartridges and the N95 filter pads. Thanks

I don't know where to get them John, but if you keep your respirator in a big, sealed plastic bag between uses the cartridges will last a lot longer.

Not sure where to get those cartridges but you should be able to buy a 3m respirator and then the cartridges will be easier to find in the future. If you are spraying auto paints I would at least be changing out the filters every time you paint. I change mine out twice when I paint a car. This paint is real nasty stuff, we really should be using supplied air respirators, we can get by with the cartidge type but those filters don't last long when spraying this stuff. Paint is full of isocyanates, nasty stuff, read this

Most cartridges are good for only 8 hours of spraying in average conditions if they are kept in a sealed container between uses.

Thanks for the advice y'all graemlins/thumbsup.gif

I will be buying a new 3M respirator today and will change cartridges each session of painting.
I will also store them in a large zip-loc bag.

Texas70, you still need to be aware that those filters are still filrering out the ISOs if you just place them in ONE bag.

In order to make them last YOU NEED TO SEPRATE THE WHITE PRE FILTER FROM THE CART FILTER AND STORE THEM IN SEPRATE BAGS.

The white filter is WHAT stops the iso's, if you dont seprate both filters the cart filter will still absorb the containment from the white filter. If you throw them in a bag as a complete unit you are really doing NO GOOD. Your 8hr exposer time will be up when you call it good for night. Then you come back the next day and use the same filters they are NOW OVEREXPOSED AND JUNK.

So once done remove the white prefilters, place them in seprate bag, then place the cart filters in a different bag.
