ok, need another originality question answered.

i just bought a used tach & gauge cluster to replace the idiot light cluster in my 70 ss.

for a floor shift vehicle, would the gearshift indicator under the speedo be there or was that only on column shift cars?

some books i have read say it could have been either way.

even though the console has an indicator, i would kind of like to use the column indicator as well, but how correct would this be?

From my understanding, it's one or another. If you have a floorshift, the indicator would not be in the dash, I think a black block-out plate should go there? I know that's the way it is for the Malibu style dashes.
