I have two problems that hopefully you can help on:
(1) I just installed a new caliper and disc brake pads on the front of my '71 Chevelle. The driver side went on very tight and as a result the rotor does not spin well. It takes a lot of force to rotate the rotor. Do I need different discs or are the calipers bad and need to be replaced?

(2) When connecting the brake hose, does the hole in the hose bolt have to line up with the hole in the banjo fitting on the end of the hose? If so, how do tighten the bolt and line them up? Also how much do you torque the bolt?

Thanks in advance for all help.

1) The pad likely fits tighty because the piston isnt quite all the way in for the new pads. When you bleed the system the rotor should spin just fine.

2) The bolt and the banjo fitting is made so it will not have to be lined up by you. It flows fluid through just fine when the bolt is tightened.

I usually tighten it up tight so the washers seal nice. But the spec should be in a manual. Im not sure off hand what it exactly is.
