I know this question has been asked to some degree, here go's ...70 SS grill is painted black not silver from the factory ,, anyone disagree with this? Concern I have is a friend of mine has a 70 SS and it does appaer to be a true SS in every aspect except the grill is silver ,does anyone have a true SS with a silver grill? is it possible to be original SS with silver grill ,the owner is 72 years old and is the second owner and personaly knew the original owner and is fairly certan that grill is origial ,also he was told by a mechanic a while back that when the fuel tank was down he saw a build slip on top of it ,I advised him to get it out and frame it . anyone hear of build slip placed on top of fuel tank ? ,, mostly I am wondering if silver grill was ever on a 70 SS?

Yes build sheets were sometimes put on top of the gas tank. This was common with Van Nuys built cars. That is where I found mine. My car was built at Van Nuys. As far as the grill, I say that it is not original to the car. As you stated, the black grill was part of SS package.

Black grille was part of the SS package. I think that all replacement grilles were silver.
