Watching the site here, I like the look of the cc501 rear springs from Moog. But everyone has them on 67's and up. Will they fit onto a 66?

I spoke to one of the 67 guys and I will be going with them on my 66 SS, unless someone spaeks up and states they won't fit and why... BTW: Summit has them for ~$55 for the pair

I really do not think they will work on a 66. The 66 rear has a large diameter coil on top and a small diameter at the bottom. The cc501 spring has small coils on both ends. That is why I haven't bought any yet. I have found them for $48.00 at Advance Auto, but that does no good if they wont fit. That is just a little less money wasted.

I went to the Summit site and searched by car - Chevrolet / Chevelle / 1966 and looked for "CC501". The Moog CC-501 came up for this car - Summit could be wrong.

I'll get under the car to see if my coils are as you describe, with the coil diameter difference... I guess one of us could order the coils and see, but I'm not quite ready at this point in the rebuild... I still have awhile before the body comes of the frame.

Anyone else care to chime in on the subject???? Are only 67's using these coils and no 66's that could help settle the question?

I believe the early model year '66 had rear springs with a pigtail on one end and retained in place with a small clip and fastener.
Sometime during the '66 model year, the rear spring design was changed to pigtails (no clip fastener) on both ends of the coil springs. Different spring seat on the rearend housing.
I think I'm recalling this correctly...
So to answer your question... CC501 springs may fit; may not.
