i have a goodmark SS hood on my 66. it will not stay up. i have replaced the springs with new opg ones but it did not help. does this hood need a special spring?

Was it difficult to put the springs on the hinge?
If not you might not have the correct ones. Or they are to weak.

I put new G.M. replacement hood springs on my '64 a few years ago and they would let the hood drop a inch or two. Now the hood drops down about half way. Dave

Sorry SS66rag,this is not related to your question,but I was wondering where you got your ss hood and louvers etc. I orderd some louvers and inserts almost 3 months ago and they still havn't come in yet.The place where I orded from said they are one backorder from everyone...just wondering if you could point me to a place where they stock them. Is the hood new? I didn't think the Goodmark had been out too long, and its been several years since I saw your car.

Off-topic, but I bought repro chrome inserts a few years ago, and they were smaller than the originals...

Just wondering if you bought new scoops, and inserts with the hood, and if you ever measured them against the originals...


BTW, the hood shouldn't be much heavier than the Malibu hood, so the springs are probably the same... And I thought Goodmark panels were slightly thinner (and therefore lighter)... Sounds like the springs aren't right...
