: Does this 69 look like a SS?
Future 69 Malibu owner? May 28th, 05, 11:32 AM Car is advertised as a clone. I want to know if it is cloned right. Did any 69 SS's come with that type of 2 tone paint scheme separated by trim down the sides? Thanks.

ssal396 May 28th, 05, 12:29 PM I have never seen a 69 SS with that trim... Not saying its impossable, I've just never seen one..

Don_Lightfoot May 28th, 05, 1:29 PM I think that's a pretty car. Doesn't look bad at all with those moldings.
jtm60 May 28th, 05, 1:59 PM I think the moldings are incorrect, but it looks sharp!
Future 69 Malibu owner? May 28th, 05, 2:16 PM I thought the moldings were only used on a Malibu, just wanted to be sure. Gonna give the guy a call. He's asking $13,500. It's been for sale a long time so it might be a bad deal, we'll see.
Dean May 28th, 05, 2:26 PM The "hockey stick" is Malibu only also.
Nice looking 69 !
Adam Loose May 28th, 05, 2:50 PM I had that same moulding on my 69 malibu.

LeoP May 28th, 05, 6:15 PM I think that's a pretty car. Doesn't look bad at all with those moldings.
You say that about all Blue 69 Chevelles. :)
69-CHVL May 28th, 05, 6:22 PM For 13,500 I'd go get it yesterday. That looks a nice car, whatever it is.

Future 69 Malibu owner? May 28th, 05, 6:44 PM It's been for sale for over a month. There must be something wrong with it. I'll post what I find out.
d1_bradley May 28th, 05, 6:57 PM Its trimed out as a Malibu, not a SS. With the lower trim, two tone treatment. Would guess its also a Malibu grille. Its 'sort of a' SS "clone" but a rather nice looking '69.
Future 69 Malibu owner? May 28th, 05, 7:22 PM Well, talked to the owner. He says the car needs a cam. I'm not a mechanic but something tells me the motor might need more than a cam. He told me it went "flat" on him and it now makes some noise. I don't know what that means but I may still go look at it. Other than that sounds like a nice car. He said the body only has 70k on it and it's real clean. Has bucket/console interior. He did say it needs a headliner. He said he's now open to offers cuz he needs the garage space to work on another car. Not being able to test drive it worries me though. What if the trans or something else is shot too?
NiteOwlNY May 28th, 05, 8:04 PM Go to Nada, check out the price for a Malibu, it's not much.... I wouldn't give him 13.5 and it needs a cam....
Jim Mac May 28th, 05, 11:21 PM kinda amazing to be asking 13,500 for a car and not spending $200 on a cam kit and gaskets, to get it running right, makes you wonder what the flat cam noise could be hiding, and did the cam lobe go bad over the life of the motor or did it develope suddenly and if so all those metal shvings are floating in the oil, Jim
Future 69 Malibu owner? May 28th, 05, 11:51 PM If I were to make him an offer I would figure in the cost of a new motor. Going to look at the car isn't on top of my list anymore either.
Brian Donovan May 29th, 05, 12:46 AM I dunno. It may be worth the trip take $2000 off the price and if he goes for it, it may be well worth it. I saw mine on ebay and his reserve was around $15,000 I went to see him in person and I got it for 9 . Cash talks. The body looks to be in pretty decent shape. If it looks that way under the "shine" then it is well worth putting in a motor or rebuilding it for that price. If this is your year. If not....... look for another one.
elco68 May 29th, 05, 1:28 AM Looks pretty.Would loose the wheel trim.To much chrome for me.Can't tell if has the ss hood.Would start around 10K,if has really good paint job and no rust. But it sounds to need motor replaced or rebuilt.
