First post to a great forum.

When I had my car repainted, the original lead at the roof to quarter panel joint was replaced with body filler. Well, the first real burnout caused the filler to crack, very disappointing. It's time to do some touch up and I would like to fix this correctly. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I live in the San Antonio TX area, a good body shop recommendation would help as well.

I would personally use Lead.. No Putty...

Lead will be more original IMO..
I,ve got some NOS lead that I melted off my car if you want #'s matching lead.
Use dynaglass, with a skim coat of plastic filler.

Sounds like someone didnt do the repair right. Filler when used right wont crack like that!
Use a fiberglass reinforced filler like evercoat or dynaglass then follow up with a regular filler like evercoat's rage gold.
Lead if done wrong will cause MORE problems then paint cracking. Hear many recommedations for lead work but wonder how many know how to do it right?
Filler if done wrong will last longer and live a better life then a lead job gone wrong...Eric

Ive always used Nu-metal. Its a bondo type filler, that instead of fiberglass particles it uses metal particles.. works great. It is a lot harder to work with when sanding... Make sure you are fairly well versed in using body fillers before you try to use it.

My '69 factory vinyl top car had plain 35 year old filler in there until 4 months ago and was not cracked. I dug it all out any replaced with short strand reinforced filler.
