Which is better and why?

...and does it need to or should it run in conjunction with the suspension bushing materal  ?

im not sure about the suspension but from what i understand you have a very stiff ride and the polys tend to sqeak some. Also you feel every bump in the road. I decided to go with rubber when i started changing bushings

Thats the same things I've heard about poly body bushings. Just go with the rubber ones. I bought the whole kit from Ground Up that comes with the bushings, bolts and washers. Very nice kit.

I went with the Energy Suspension poly bushings. Haven't driven the car yet, so I can't say what difference they make.

I also used energy suspension bushings in every bushing in my car. Have not driven the car yet. It is only a weekend cruiser type of deal and not a daily driver.

I don't believe the poly kits for these cars come with the metal inserts. The rubber kits do. I need the inserts so I'll be using the rubber bushings. Typical responses are that there is a rougher ride and more road noise transmitted into the body with the poly bushings.

I have Polygraphite body bushings and suspension bushings. I got them from PST and they do not squeak at all, the polyurethane bushings have been known to squeak. It is definitely a firm ride and has it's pros and cons, if I had to do over again I would have gone with the rubber bushings over the graphite bushings. My 72 is just a cruiser and I would much more enjoy a smooth ride but the graphite bushings do make my Chevelle handle better and feel tighter, but when you hit a big bump it is magnafied. Oh well live and learn I guess.

What about rubber suspension and poly body bushings?

The reason behind all this...

The ones I'm looking at are poly and don't come with all the hardware, but I feel I can clean up the existing washers and spacers sufficiently. A new bolt kit + the poly is still cheaper than the rubber...

I'd hate to put in poly lower the body back down and torque everything to find there's a huge difference way down the line with road vibrations when we get to the point of actually driving the car. We rebuilt the front end with rubber already...

go with the poly
npd sells them with the metal collars

you might as well let the body and frame help each other to make a stiffer less flexy car.

I have poly suspension bushings and poly body bushings on my daily driver.

I originally put rubber body bushings on, but decided to try some poly bushings after about a year.

The poly bushings firm up the ride slightly, but not a bunch. Also, mine have NO squeeks (and I have a very flexy convertible).

My bushings also came with the inserts.

I would highly recommend going with the polys.
