That is so damn cool! I wouldn't have the balls to put my title on the line. They obviously have more jack than I do.

Looks like it would be a good show. I wonder if there's any restrictions? With my luck I would (stupidly) go on the show and line up against John Force.

Cool premise, bad idea if you are going to do it.

I will definatley have to tune in.

That one young guy must be loaded. And he doesnt seem to know much about what he's doing, and he's clearly a dumbnut for not test and tuning his car prior.

who would be stupid enough to agree to race with a broken axle???

Thats my hometown racetrack, its literally a 20 minute drive from my house!!! I almost went to the taping of that episode but we had our family paintball tournament. I couldnt pass up an opportunity to shoot the hell out of my cousins!!!
The reason he raced with a broken axle is because if he didnt he automatically lost his ride anyways.

then he should've crashed it at the big end when he knew he was going to lose. "Damn broken axle"!!!

Anybody who would risk losing his or her car is an idiot. Never gamble for more than you can afford to lose. This is not COOL, just STUPID!

I worked on the PINKS promo shoot two weeks ago, renting them motorhomes for the crew and client. I was also paid to have my "66 on location as a back-up "Hot Rod". This was mock footage for advertisement purposes. The production company had a '69 Roadrunner and a '70 SS396 Chevelle clone trucked in from L.A. (the shoot was on the old Salt Lake Hwy, about 25 miles outside Las Vegas) and a '69 GT500 Shelby from Carroll Shelby's shop at the L.V.Motor Speedway. They ended up actually using the Shelby and the '70 Chevelle, but all the close up burnouts were with my '66 Chevelle, it should make for interesting editing, the Shelby is Burgundy and the '70 Black, my car is Yellow. If it had been real (not that I would for pinkslips), I would have had to make 4 trips to get all my cars home. These were real under acheivers. Everybody on the crew and cast wanted "joyrides" including the other drivers. It was pretty cool rippin' back and forth at 120+ right next to traffic on I 15 (running parallel less than 100 yards away). Highway Patrol were posted on each end. I laid down a 201 foot burnout right next to the cops, I had a blast painting the Hwy on their dime and ultimately their tires. Actually the tires are still in good shape, that cash will find a better use. I may have to break down and order the speed channel, is it worth it, alot of the shows are on other channels aren't they.

I would dump about 8500 bucks into a motor (nos it a little) buy the biggest pile of crap car, throw lots and lots of bondo on it and then spend a thousand on a paint job, Then I would have no problem putting the car on the line against those freaks who have dumped twenty grand into their hot rod

Hey Rowdy

What's up with the 70" Chevelle with a 72" rear bumper? I am just wondering if they did that on purpose.

You know, I didn't notice the bumper thing, it was kind of hectic day for me. One of my drivers was late so I had to run one of the motorhomes out, get them set up, then haul a$$ home to get my car. I even laid under the '70, rigging a tow point. I noticed that it's exhaust sucked, but can't picture what bumper was on it.
On a different pinks thread (bench racing) there was mention of the bumpers, I figured it to be footage from another outing, seems too soon to be from the shoot that I was on, but I've worked on music videos that film and air in the same week. What else was on the commercial, was it out in the middle of nowhere ?

Middle of no where, straight road. Had the shelby mustang with a 4 speed, and the 70 chevelle. No showing of your 66 or any burnouts from the chevelle. But there was some burnouts from the mustang. Then Chevelle tows the Mustang away at the end, with a guy left standing in the middle of the road. The pavement did look pretty dark if that helps.

That would be it. If the Shelby is doing a 180, there should be dozens of marks on the road, they had him do it over and over for about an hour, same spot. The Shelby had collapsed exhaust, it would barely idle and sounded like sh!t. That's pretty fast post production to air within 2 weeks of shooting. The production company, for the promo spot anyway, was NASCAR Images out of North Carolina, I thought that was a little weird, effective I guess, just an odd combo, drag racing and NASCAR.
