Had a buddy paint a car in base coat, clear coat and need to rub out. Do I use heavy compound as in laquer or just paper and water? Please advise...I got what I payed for--orange peel--anybody have a match?

Howdy,
Just painted my 70 with bc/cc and had some pretty bad orange peel in a couple of spots. I wet sanded the bad spots starting with 600 and then 1000 then 1500. Then I used some rubbing compound and ran a buffer on it. Turned out nice and pretty. Use water and if you sand any bugs or grime out, wipe it off immediatly and change paper to avoid scratches. Good luck.

600 is way to coarse.if its real heavy start with 1000 or 1200.use 3m Perfect It III heavy duty compound.and follow that with a light duty compound. Then use a machine glaze.

Never use anything as harsh as 600. 1000 grit or finer. It might take a litlle longer but a lot smoother in the end. 3m perfect itIII with a foam pad and finish with 3m glaze for lite or dark paint, whichever it is that's painted.
