Hey guy's;

I have posted this same question on the body shop forum, I am trying to find out how to Bond the 2 last remaining pieces of my Sound Deadner that I purchased from OPG. Clarification can be read from the previous post on the Body Shop but basically I am trying to figure out the best way to bond the last 2 peices of this sound deadner kit from OPG. These 2 remaining peices do not have the Tar Strips that the main peices had, these are the 2 pieces that cover the Trans Tunnel, right now I am thinking to use either a Roofing Tar or a Polyurethane Construction Adhesive, and maybe Contact Cement ??

I know Roofing Tar will probably smell when hot so I am steering away from that idea, but I cannot install these dry they do need some type of adhesion ?? Has anybody installed this Suond Deadner Kit fron OPG ?? And if so what did you use for a Bonding Agent for these 2 pieces??

Thanks Guy's;

Ziggy,

I have not actually seen the material you have, but I would bet that double face carpet tape would hold it in place just fine. Available at Lowes, Home Depot etc.

I ve installed several of these kits including one in my own Chevelle. I usually buy my adhesives through a local upholstery supply shop. It's very similar to contact cement and I shoot ot through a heavy duty paint gun. 3M makes a good contact cement and is sold in hardware stores. Steer away from Permex, that stuff is no good. When using the contact cement, make sure you lay the deadner when the cement is tacky, very important! This will make it stick much better. If you find a upholstery supply near you, buy their adhesive. Good luck.

DO NOT USING ROOFING TAR, it will never cure and will always be sticky. A REAL MESS!!!! The previous owner of our 64 suburban used it to install the weather stripping WHAT A MESS!!

3M spray adhesive has never given me any problems.

not exactly what you need but, i just wanted to pass along a lil discovery i made recently looking for something to glue the leftover vinyl at the corners of my (yes, i bought them) unassembled door panels for my 70 el, w/o getting oversprayed glue everywhere...DAP weldwood contact cement stuff works great, trimmed the brush down and used it to glue all kinna little tight spots
