Hey, at least that's what mine sounded like. Engine had maybe 10 miles on it, and a grand total of two hours run time. Cut the oil filter open and it had fine bits (grains if you will) of metal. So we tore it down and number 1 exhaust lobe looked more like the fuel pump eccentric. It ruined the crank, the bearings were gone, and on and on..... Pics to follow.

But on the upside of things, I'm gonna give UDHarold's VooDoo 268 a shot. Wanna see what the buzz is all about.

Advice? Maybe some words of encouragement? :D

That sux!!!! Been there done that..... Just make sure you scrub the block down & take EVERYTHING apart to clean it up.. You wouldn't believe how much metal I pulled out of my motor..

Seriously, sorry to hear about your luck!

I spun the lobe on #4 last spring.
I never tore it icompletely down.
Still running low 12s.
However, #1,2,3,4 cylls were scored.
I fugured the bearings looked just as bad.
I flushed it out by pouring kerisene in the valley
and let it run out the drain plug. put a magnet in
the drain hole the whole time.
Threw a new cam in and put it back together.
Figured if I had to rebuild it, there was going to be a damn good
reason.
Its still running fine. :) (darn, I wanted to go to a 468 with diamond pistons and alum heads, steel crank and roller cam. )

Maybe next year. :D
