: My luck just keeps getting better...
Derek69SS May 24th, 05, 8:49 PM So, after Jenna took the Chevelle to the wedding on Saturday (and got it really dirty) I finally had the chance to wash it. While drying it off, I noticed this.

So I opened the trunk and found this, with a corner resting against the quarter

I mean really, what do we need one of these for anyway?
All the plants we have now are either yellow or brown, why do we want more?
The worst part is, the paint is cracked, which means NO RUST PROTECTION. My quarters do not have any mouldings or stripes, so to repaint this, and do it right, with no tape-lines, I'll have to clear coat the entire roof and the quarter panel on the other side... :(
Hi-po SS 454 May 24th, 05, 8:59 PM Thats nothing Derek, you never get your car back in one piece if your the type that loans it out. So prepare for more. Possible paintless dent remove on this one ????
bradford May 24th, 05, 9:01 PM been there done that. i had a chevy luv 4x4 i just painted and was hauling an engine block in the back, lets just say it almost went all the way throught the side.

Metal is stretched, and the paint is cracked. It might make it look better for a while, but it will still rust underneith in time. It's worth a shot though, it may look good for a few years before I need to fix it. :clonk:

Forgot about the cracked paint, I think it would get worst when they start messageing that metal, having to work right on top of that cracked paint..Plus metal being stretched, bummer..I think Jenna was doing some donuts Dude !!!!!
And somehow it's YOUR fault. Welcome to married life.:)
dreinecke May 25th, 05, 8:33 AM I got the same thing from a wheel that wasn't secured. Yours looks good compared to mine. It's all part of being a driver...
69boo307 May 25th, 05, 9:02 AM been there, done that, I have two NASTY looking outward facing dings in my rear 1/4 due to a floor jack that I thought was secure. It wasn't. :( the paint is actually chipped off from it.
SweetShot May 25th, 05, 9:40 AM Derek, huney...it's okay. Take a deep breath and calm down.
It could of been worse, and think about it? If you werent working on your cars, what would you be doing?
It was an assident and we all have done it.
Be happy that you have a woman who wants to do donuts
and not just eat them like most of us :clonk:
rachael anne :waving:
Derek69SS May 25th, 05, 10:05 AM Good thing for both of us, she had to work late and I had a few hours to calm down, venting here helped as well... I was pretty PO'd at first but then as I continued drying the car, I started noticing all the chips and scratches that were MY fault... nobody is perfect, and neither was my quarter-panel.
ACLineman May 25th, 05, 10:19 AM See cooler heads prevail........ Hopefully you will get it fixed and all forgiven....
Olle May 25th, 05, 10:34 AM Could have been worse. I had a big air compressor falling out the rear window of my station wagon once. Nowadays I secure my loads :)
ACLineman May 25th, 05, 10:50 AM Reminds me of the time when I was about 18-19. I had a 67 F-150 "Cool truck" with a 360 , 3 speed, and posi rear  .
I had a 55 gallon drum of oil that was my dads standing up in the bed (not tied off).
Totally forgot it was there and did a little hole shot from a parking lot to get out in traffic. I hear this sliding noise and 'BANG'. scared the dog S#*T out of me. Looked in the mirror and there was the drum rolling down the street. :clonk:
Luckily I was pulling out of a siding place and there were like 6 guys that helped me pick it up and put it back in the truck ( a full 55 gallon drum is HEAVY !!!). Bent the heck out of the tailgate and it wouldn't latch right.
So I go about 10 miles and nerves fianlly settle. Take off from a traffic light not hard and now there was some oil seeping out into the bed, (unbeknowst to me) and 'CRASH BANG' the F-ing thing fell out again. These 3 old guys come over from a diner parking lot and help me load it in the bed.
Old guys are stong, HeHe
If we learn ANYTHING from this, it's don't smoke pot and haul oil drums or anything for that matter, Cause back then I was bad........... :D
Olle May 25th, 05, 12:08 PM I had a 55 gallon drum of oil that was my dads standing up in the bed (not tied off).
...and just as I did, you just put it there and said "No need to tie it down, it ain't going nowhere". That's the standard redneck comment after loading heavy objects :D
Alan May 25th, 05, 1:48 PM That's exactly why I either don't use my trunk space or if I do, everything has to be tied in place with hold down straps. Especially true when I had my '94 Impala. Anything not bolted down in the trunk went flying around at every corner. I called it a worthless trunk.
My view of the problem: Sucks, but fixable. I'd have been P.O.'d as well. But then would have said "I got bigger problems to worry about than a push-out in the trunk".
SS_Dave May 25th, 05, 2:23 PM The way I see it, she owes you a BIG favor! ;)
don't wait too long to collect.
Won't fix your dent ( sorry for that ) but at least you
could get a min and a half of satisfaction out of it. ;)
Derek69SS May 25th, 05, 3:04 PM but at least you could get a min and a half of satisfaction out of it. ;)
I don't mean to brag, but I'm pretty sure I can cut that time in half :D
pmullaly May 25th, 05, 3:34 PM WHEW!! at least it didn't happen to the 9C1 I see in the reflection
Derek69SS May 25th, 05, 3:42 PM WHEW!! at least it didn't happen to the 9C1 I see in the reflection
Actually, that's my '95 wagon, and I'd much rather have a ding in that than the chevelle!

John D May 25th, 05, 5:28 PM There must be something in the water around here - Sheryl showed up at home with TWO of those things that same weekend!
(at least she hauled them in HER car though!)

Are you serious about the trade? :) That's a sweet elky. My wagon ain't perfect, but I love the style, power, gas mileage, utilitarian duty, and all the comfort of your living-room couch :D
