I have a 65 Chevelle that I drive street/strip and need to choose tires that are dedicated to the track.

I have an extra set of 16X8 rims that I would like to use, but since they are new in the box I can exchange for 15X8's if necessary.

I can have a maximum section width of 10.2 in (body overhangs tire)

I can have a maximum height of 26.2

suspension is new boxed upper and lower control arms, new springs and shocks. Currie 9" ford rear end, 3.50 gears.

Should I go slicks? Drag Radials?

Any Ideas would be great.

Slicks offer the best traction, of course...but...
If you're wanting to really keep the 16" wheels, I'd look into a set of Nitto 555R drag radials.
I've used these before and was impressed with them...hook pretty good.
A favorite with the late model Camaro/Stang crowd, too.

Some 16x26 E.T.Streets would hook like crazy,too.
