I just bought a pack of 1000 and 1500 grit wetsand paper from McGuires. They claim it's a more uniform grit paper that reduces scratches. Anybody tried it yet?

I HIGHLY recommend ALL of Mcquires products. No, I don't have any motive, other than I have found it to be the best. The "Power Compound" is the best I have ever used. The paper, by the way is about twice as much money as 3M. It is way over twice as good though, "you get what you pay for" as they say.

If you're talking about Meguiars, the same company that make the wax, then, YES. It's the only one to use. Other companies mix 1000 grit with 2000 grit to make a 1500 grit paper. The larger grit will leave deep scratches. Meguiars is consistant throught out. I was told they buy their sand paper from a company that manufactures them for optical lense use. If you wanna cheat and use other brand, I suggest you try them in areas that are not noticable or on a test panel. Meguiars all the way!!!

Jimmy, we only use the Mequires paper, you will use less paper also as it holds up excellent. The have it in 3000 too.

Heh, Heh, Mequiars, I couldn't for the life of me remember how to spell it. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif

Mickey, they have 3000 huh, I havn't seen it. I will go by my jobber tommorow, sounds great.

In my book, Mequiars number 7 "Mirror Glaze" is still the best product ever made to make a finish look it's best.

I agree on the #7 Mirror Glaze. I have a 97 Pont Grand Prix GT that is black. When I bought it used the swirl marks were terrible and I used the Mequires products on it and it looks like it has a $5000 paint job on it now. I constatly get comments on it and how it looks. The factory paint is good stuff if you just spend alittle time with it.

I guess my spelling was a 'Mark McGuire' provoked thought! Martin, you're absolutely correct when you said, "you get what you pay for." Mickey, 3000 grit! Wow! You could drastically cut down on the Perfect-It!

I was at a PPG seminar last night and seen it in the store of my PPG supplier. I didnt know it was out either. They said it was real good for dark color cars, we'll see. I am going to a Meguires seminar next month so hopefully will pick up some pointers on it.

Anyone know their website? Or does anyone who sells PPG carry their products?
