Just received a horseshoe shifter from my friend with a 68 camaro. Will this shifter fit with a bench seat in my 69 chevelle or will I have to put in bucket seats for the shifter to fit? Thanks

I am not sure if the base of the shifter...the part that is screwed to the tunnel..... is of the same contour as a chevelle. The camoro shifter may not sit on the trans tunnel correctly. The shifter may work with a bench if you don't use a console.....but that would look a little "unfinished".
Maybe some others will chome in.

You can always tweak the base to fit and make it work, but you'll need to fabricate some kind of console to cover the mechanism. Another possible problem with this kind of shifter and a bench seat is that could be difficult to reach. You could check this by just putting it on the floor and give it a dry run. Then of course, you'll need the shifter cable, lever, wiring etc. but it's not extremely difficult to do.

It can be done with some fabrication and determination, but IMO, it would look funny with this shifter and a bench seat.

Thanks for the replies and opinions. Think I'll be purchasing some bucket seats in the future!
