I am in the market to put a glass hood on my 70SS with big block. Any suggestions for quality product?

Harwood makes a very good product. So does VFN and Glasstek. I've got a Glasstek 2 3/4" tall cowl hood on my 69 El Camino.

I have a Glasstek on my Nova. When I had it painted the body shop said it was one of the nicest fiberglass pieces they had seen. It needed minimal prep work.

I bought an A&A hood a few years ago and it was so bad I sent it back. It was really wavy.

(There is fella in Syracuse with a butternut dream machine that wants to see what my old 70 has to offer.... I want to make sure he gets a good look at the hood when it goes by him...)

I like the Harwood show hood as it is just as smooth on the engine side as the top. I have one on my 70 (with a huge hole smile.gif ) . Only comes in 4 inch though. No matter who you get it from if it is shipped truck freight make SURE you inspect it BEFORE signing for it. It took me 2 tries to get a undamaged hood. IMO truck freighters don't car about the "little guy". My first hood had foot prints on the box and sat on the dock 3 days before they tried to deliver it (business address even). When the trailer was opened up the box was also loaded upside down even with a HUGE "this side up" sign on the box graemlins/clonk.gif Summit was real easy to deal with on getting the second hood to me. They must have this problem a lot as Summit was the one the was adamant about the pre-signature inspection.

This (http://www.chevelles.com/showroom/DaDon/DCP_0067.JPG) is my Glasstech right out of the box. Very minor prep and This (http://www.chevelles.com/showroom/DaDon/paint1.jpg) is how it looks after paint. I vote Glasstech.

So Harwood only makes a 4 inch glass cowl hood but glasstek has the 2 inch. I think my mind has been made up. I want glass but I do not want a 4 inch cowl on my 70SS. Sweet.

Clint44,

How did you get a 2-3/4", I only saw a 4" listed. I have loked at several and have only seen 4" in fiberglass.
