Well I'm finally going to bite the bullet and upgrade the interior of the Elky, I've already had a local guy put in a headliner and now am planning on putting in the new carpet but I want to put some sound deadener (sp?) also. I thought of the dynomat and it sounded great until I saw the price for it and no. If I could get something that would only be bout 50 bux or less that would be good. I have looked around at the most of the web sites and found that opg is about the cheapest place for carpet for 99 bux. But i'm not sure that comes with the sound deadoning (how the hell do u spell it?) Does anyone know of any place that is cheaper? Also I'm wanting to get some brake light lenses (it's a 71) as the old ones are cracked. Any suggestions on where to get em cheap? Thanks

I put this stuff in that was @ the local speed shop called "The insulator" it was a dual foil piece that is heat shield and filled with fiber of whatever. IT is about 1/2" thick and comes in 4'x6' sheets which it took me three to do my entire interior, but that was under dash, i put this stuff EVERYWHERE under the dash so you could go from where your feet are to up behind your back seat. It made a HUGE difference, the car is MUCH cooler this year then last year since it acts and as insulator. I plan to put it in my door panels, and headliner also.

I drove the car with just metal floor boards and a hole for my shifter to this carpet, and backseat with this behind it. I could not talk from 1st to 3rd gear but now i can talk comfortably through all the gears. I have Flowmaster 40 Series (MAYBE 50 ca'nt remember) Delta series. Its pretty loud out back but quiet inside. I still have a hole in the floor board two where the 4 spd sticks up so it can only get better. We did my buddies 72 camaro in this stuff and it made it so quiet it is unbelievable. His car was LOUD too, flowmaster 40 series with turndowns. it is actually very bearable in the car.

I also looked @ dynamat and cringed @ the price, but i figure when it is all said and done i will have about $150-$200 in sound deadener.

I used this stuff called "Low-E" that I got from Low Buck Hot Rod -- www.lobucrod.com. A 4x10 sheet is $27.50. Three sheets did the trick for me on my '70 Monte Carlo. Stuff prevents condensation and won't mildew or retain moisture. I hear it's used in racing, but can't say for sure.

I think you can buy it through the guy's website or you can look on Ebay. He uses the name "lobucrod" and that's where I got mine.

The stuff i used was called "The insulator" it was $29.95 for a 4x6 sheet.

Just used a pair of scisors to cut out what i needed, tranny tunnel, and just pushed it through the bolts in the floor for the bucket seats etc. Pushing it through the metal seemed easiest to me, and cutting a SLIT in for the seat belts worked out nice for the rear seat, didn't have to remove a ton of it and the more in their the queiter it will be.
