Lower clutch pushrod interfers with my current headers. Would like to go with a 2" primary. Anyone have a set that fit with no issues?

Hello,

I run Hooker Super Competition 2217, 2 inch on my 1970 454 stick Chevelle SS. Fit like a glove. No dinging. No denting. By the way, also running Moroso solid motor mounts (same dimension as stock mounts).

My buddy runs Hooker Competition 2455, 2 inch. Had to ding them up to fit near control arm mounting areas and steering shaft.

Many guys seem to like smaller headers like Hedman 1 3/4. I will say that Hedmans fit better when it comes to ground clearence. The 2217's on my car have kissed the pavement a few times as they do hang below the chassis. My car is supercharged, so the bigger headers are fine with me. If I ever remove the supercharger, I would consider going with smaller than 2 inch.

Good luck, Joe

Thanks for the reply. One other variable I forgot to include was that I have ZZ454 with Aluminum heads. I know all the hedmans have issues with clearance of the head bolts. I had to trim down the flange. I guess this is not too big of a deal unless I buy the coated headers....

Thanks....good point. Both my car and friends running stock / vintage iron GM heads, so no problems with header flange areas, nor "raised exhaust ports".

Pretty sure GM Preformance Parts Aluminum heads have stock exhaust port locations / height. Look into that........although it does not really matter since you are probably installing headers one way or another! LOL

Many guys running headers on ZZ454 w/ Aluminum Heads.

....Joe.
