I'm in need of some recomendation for a decent shop that can rechrome some bumpers. I'm in St. Louis MO, but don't mind shipping if I have to.

Has anyone used Desert Dog Auto parts in IL? I've heard they do exchange units for $250. Haven't heard about quality though.

Desert dog auto parts is a small shop in IL that doesnt do re-chroming unless he has expanded in the past year. He could exchange for a used bumper or new re-chromed one. I bought a used door from him and it was great quality though.... I think you could find a better place to get them done unless you are on a budget.......jmo

I can also say that Tri-City does great work I've seen bumpers on cars at shows and they are show quality all the way, I'm going to have Tri-City do my 72's bumpers.

Advance Plating in Nashville (at ACES last year) and Northstar in Des Moines, IA are both very good.

Cool, Thanks guys, anyone have some phone #'s for these guys? Kinda on some time constraints, as I'm having my 64 Cutlass painted to get ready for the power tour this year. did 3 stops last year, and hope to do the whole thing this year. (the fuel prices will give us a break someday, before then)

I also recommend Northstar bumper. You can send the bumpers to the Des Moines Branch and from there they are shipped to Brainard Minn. Got mine done from Northstar and they look great. The best chrome work Ive seen done, but Ive yet to see Tri-City...Eric

Northstar is now called Keystone and the quality is not what it used to be.

Just got mine back from Tri-City, excellent work.

I know this topic is a little old, but there is a shop in Memphis Tenn called Memphis Plating that does some good work.

Have you tried calling the metal stamping/plating shops in St. Louis itself listed in the phone book? Three years ago, I had my 66 front bumper hammered out and rechromed by a local shop in CA for $85. They did a excellent job.

Sincerely,

Genaro

I have used Tri-City and I am still waiting for my bumper. I dropped off my 442 rear bumper to them a year ago and still dont have it. I am told they are "WORKING" on it. They have been nice people to talk with, but still have not made good on my rear bumper. I have been assured that they will get me one. If you go with them just make sure you keep all your documentation.
