: 66 Chevelle Black Interior Paint?

I know this question has been asked before, but I've never heard what all the pro's do?

What do I paint my Interior metal with?
(pillars, above door panels, metal dash, etc.)

Do I clearcoat and buff these areas?

How the hell do you buff the intricate metal dash?

I went to my local autobody paint store, and the guy gave me Duracryl semi-gloss black, and said that would work fine. I don't want fine, I want perfect! The semi-gloss is too dull, does not look like the original black.

I've heard of people using Krylon in a spray can, but that does not sound right either.

What do the professional restorers use?

Also, the black paint that was on the top metal dash panel, where the dash pad goes, did not have an ordinary finish. The finish had a very fine wrinkle to it, and the black looked as though it was semi-gloss, not flat. I don't want to use flat because it will marr too easily. This wrinkle finish was tough, hard to scratch.

Really need help on this one!

The top of the dash finish is a suede additive that need to be put in that semi- lacquer you have. I use the duracrl semi gloss lacquer and it is real good. That is the best thing you can use in my opinion for a factory finish on those areas. And it shouldnt be that flat either, if it is add a little gloss black to the mix to pick it back up. I use this product straight from the can and it is perfect. If you have seen original cars most of the time that trim had been cleaned or even waxed and that makes it appear more shiney that norm. This stuff will do the same thing if you rub it some.
