Hi! I'm not new to the site, view it all the time and love it, but this only my second post. Can anyone tell me if my 72 should have a water control valve in one of the heater hoses. I have put new compressor, expantion valve, condenser, dryer and pulled a good vaccume on the system. It acts like the air is having to overcome the heater. any input would be great!

No heater control valve on a 72. Make sure the doors are rigged properly and seals are good. If you need you can install a heater control valve from a 69 which mounts on the inner fender well. It uses vacuum to close the valve. you'll have to figure out which Vac line to T off of to close it when the air is selected

Thanks Phillip! I'll try that next.

Does your car have a max air selection, mostly the vacuum only shuts off the coolant in the Max mode. Do make sure your blend door and other doors in the housing are working as designed.

yes, it does have max cool selection. The best I can tell there are 3 doors. 1 in the kick panel for recirc, 1 in the cowl for fresh air intake and 1 that diverts from floor to dash. Don't really know what position they should be in to cool. Anybody know?
