I ended up buying a rechromed one outright, and kept my original because A] It wasnt that bad, and B]I knew it fit... and C] i wouldnt have to wait to get it rechromed (instant gratification is always a good thing!) So anyhow, i got a rechromed original... looks good, way thicker than a repop and probably alot better chrome... but the damn thing didnt fit my car like the one i took off... i think the rechoming places straighten and take dents out of old bumpers before redoing them, and although they look dead on, they often have a slight twist or tweak you cant see til you try to install it... That, and for some reason an NOS set of bumper guards wont even come close to fitting the contours of this rechromed GM bumper. Eventually i plan to get my original one rechromed so i can use my guards. If i had to do it again thats what i would have done in the first place... i still wouldnt have bought a cheapo taiwan repop one. If your bumper fits nice, and isn't rotted out, i'd rechrome it... just make sure you get YOUR bumper back, and not an exchange.
