I'm trying to repaint a 67 that was code "K" Emerald Turquoise. Using PPG's DBU base/clear, I sprayed the dash with the basecoat only to simulate the original finish, and it matched that perfectly. It actually looks a little blue to me, but there were areas of the dash (behind the plastic trim) that were always covered. Now I know that usually basecoat changes color when clear is applied, but the outside of the car seems to be a little greener than the interior was. I'm judging this by looking at an area of the cowl under the cowl vent that has the original paint, and has never seen daylight because it's covered. In a few days I'll be spraying the door jams, so I'll see what it looks like with the clear on it. I was wondering if anyone here has repainted a 67 Emerald Turquoise car, and had any color match problems, or am I just getting color-blind in my old age.
