This post is a little venting on my part. And some humor
My cousin has an 86 Cutlass.Real clean car.Like one of the cleanest 86 Cutlasses I've ever seen.
A few months ago,we swapped out the weak and tired 307 Olds for a 330 Olds motor (1966 Cutlass vintage) a very strong running stocker, and a it had a recent rebuild to boot (and the price was right)
Anyway,along with the engine swap,we did the trans too.Went from a TH200C to a TH350 w/shift kit and a B&M 2000 stall
We also found out at this time the car has 2.14 gears  Yes,2.14's not 2.41's
Anyway,as one could imagine, the car is really, really soft in the seat of the pants performance
Its so soft,it barely qualifies as fun even on the highway.Even in second gear, his overall rear gear ratio is 3.08's so this thing is a pig.
The 2000 stall certainly helps it squeel that tire though (just barely) :D
He recently has installed headers and a 2.25" true dual exhaust kit on the car.
Gave the car a decent exhaust note (even thru the cats) and seemed to give the car a little kick in the ass dyno, but certainly not enough to even think the car has reasonable seat of the pants.
And I keep hassling him about getting some gear.
Heck, even a donor or cheap 2.73 rear would help.
Of course, a Monte SS 3.73 posi or GN 8.5 3.42 posi would be nice too,but thats not really in the budget.
Today I get a call from someone that knows someone that knows a guy that has a 1986 3.73 Monte rear for $150 (local too) but its not a posi.I once had an 85 like this (3.73's with no posi)
I let my cousin know about this and he had reservations about it!!!
I told him this would be best mod he could do,even with it being a one legger(and a Powertrax or posi unit could be added later)
He is still unsure about it,but he'll let me know by the time I go to check it out tonight.
Heck,I'm ready to buy the damn thing and put in my 87 Cutlass, which has a 307/200R4..and 2.41 gears.
Anyway, those of you that know me well would probably be amused by this..never a dull moment
