I bought and old pro-street 64 2dr ht race car. The floors were aluminun so I removed them and bought steel to replace the aluminum with. Now there is a little of the old floor still there...around the edges and I plan to pop rivet and spot weld in the new floors...do I really need to completely weld in the new floors or will the pop rivets and spot weld hold it in just fine?? This will not be a resto to like new...more like an old race car being put back on the street. Any suggestions Guys??

i replaced part of my front pans. stich welded about every inch or so.ground the high spots off, then I fiberglassed the whole seam with a two inch wide strip.top side and bottom side.it's easy to work with and will add a lot of strengh.good luck gary graemlins/beers.gif

I'd weld them in complete. Forget the poprivets. JMO

Sounds like my car when I bought it!Like yours, mine was an old back halved drag car. Needed to do a full resto. But kept it back halved. I had to replace my floor pans and trunk also. I went the spot weld every quarter inch or so. Then seam sealed the joint top and bottom. You can check it out on my web page. Good luck! And show us your progress!!!! graemlins/beers.gif

only my backhalf was a DIY job and galv sheet was used for the floor :(

JBlack--Not to jump off topic, but what is the name of that shade of orange on your 64? I'm not big on two-tone paint jobs on Chevelles, but yours looks absolutely amazing!!! graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Eric,
Thanks!!! It took along time to find the right shade that I wanted. Pictures don't do it justice.
It's a 2001 Lamborgini Orange Arancio. I have the Sikkens paint code. But PPG is the factory paint.
Here's a link http://www.lambocars.com/paint.html
This color has to be shot on a white sealer.Lots of pearl!! So I would recommend shooting the car together. Or at the least shooting it all at the same time. (Same day, same mix of paint)
