I had a quadrajet carb that I had a "friend" rebuild and it was never the same...:( I replaced it with a basic Holley 600cfm carb that I bought at the local parts store Pep Boys. I purchased the adapter plate to attach it to the quadrajet intake. Would I notice any significant power increase replacing the intake with a new intake to go with the Holley carb? It looks like the current intake could be restricting the air flow into the primaries as the old QJ primaries were smaller. Just wondering if its worth the trouble or should I just save the $120? My motor is stock except for the HEI and headers. Thanks

I'd do it in a heartbeat. If your small block is in good condition, the carb, aluminum intake, HEI and headers should make it run strong not to mention the weight savings. If you want to save money, buy a used intake, blast it, wash it and lightly dust it with clear header paint.

I think a small cam would make a bigger difference, externals look good, heads and cam make the power. In your application I don't think the adapter is hurting performance any.
