I ordered the throttle cable for my 70 BB w/ holley 800 and the cable seems about 1/4" too long? Is this thing adjustable? I am ready to pull my hair out. Can anyone help?

I got a BBC cable from them, and found that it would not work with a new Holley 750HP that I had decided to use..I sent mine back, but my original cable worked ok with it. I dont think they are adjustable.

JMT, do you know if a universal adjustable cable would be ok?

It might be worth a shot. I know the other thing I had to change on mine was the bracket where the cable mounted to the carb..I had a bracket (also from G.U.) that just did not seem correct, and was going to require moderate tweaking, so back it went..I wound up buying a Holley bracket. So check your bracket too.

Ive never seen the adjustable cable, but I would not be against trying one. I guess the main thing is as long as you can adjust it so that you get full throttle without it having any slack, it'll be ok.

Does anyone know the correct length of this cable for your application?

One other thought...is there any way you could tweak the pedal where the cable attaches such that you take up the extra 1/4" on the GU cable?

I may have an issue with my gas pedal itself. It seems like the Z bar has a lot of movement in it and does not even stay all the way up off of the floor. So my next mission is to check out another car and see how sloppy it is. Does anyone by any chance have a pic of the bracket mounted?? By the way I do have that GM cable that is on Ebay...the first link looks to be a repro and the second one is obviously NOS by the package?? Sorry to keep bugging you guys.

Ebay sellers are amazing. Both those cables are still available from GM. The 3972679 cable (for quadrajet carb) lists for $21.78 at your local dealer...available on the net for $12.41. The 336969 cable (for holley carb) lists for $23.36...available for $13.31.

I've had both cables and I think the 336969 is shorter than the 3972679. The ad for the 336969 holley cable says it's 21" long. How does that compare to your GU cable length?

Classic Ebay..looking thru the NOS items for sale, lots of parts look more like something from GM parts direct...bar coded boxes, etc..maybe they are just NS, not NOS.

yep, mine is the GM 336969. The package was the same too.

I have both the cable and the bracket from Ground Up on my 454 with the Holley, both are fine - very good fit no issues.
