Does anyone know if I can get a set of 66' Chevelle tail light housings new, or where I can get a very very good used set.

Thanks,

Christopher,
When you say tailight housing, am I to assume that you mean the whole tailight assembly that bolts to the rear of the car? Not lenses or the chrome retaining ring?

If so, I know of no aftermarket parts supplier who makes them. Your best bet would be to hit the swap meets, or better yet, check out the for sale pages on Team Chevelle.

That is what I'am talking about. I cant figure out what is wrong with mine. They won't fit, they have a 1/4inch gap on one corner edge of each, between them and the body. The car has been in a wreck before I got it and the people that had it before me has welded new quarters in it. The only way I found out that it had been wrecked was by the back panel below the trunck lid, the trim would not go flush with this panel.

The '66 t/l housings can be found NOS in hemmings or ebay from time to time.I had to grind my down a little bit to get the fit real good[on my '67]. try the same than drop 'em off at the body shop for finishing/painting.P.S.

I smucked the reply by accident. You might want to try a couple different good used ones [they should be no problem to get] and one might fit better than another.Email me if you need help finding the '66 housings.

You say that the car was wrecked and that the quarters were replaced? Are you sure the tail lights are bad or is it that they just did a poor job of installing the quarters. You might want to find a good body man down here in Virginia.

I was also wondering about this. Another thing that helped me find out that the car has been wrecked was in the trunk. the braces in the trunk behind the tail lights are bent and have buckled under the force of what ever hit it took. But back to the tail light housings, the passenger side is the worst of the two. And this is the side that that has a half quarter panel welded in, the other side has a full quarter panel. But I am just wondering if the guy did not measure the panels good.
