: DA Sander. Can it work as a buffer/polisher?

I have been reading a ton of information this weekend in attempt to buy the right equipment to strip down my 66 Chevelle to the bare metal.

I still think I am going to go with a compressor and DA sander just so I can take advantage of all the other great tools I can get (plus if I dedicide to paint it myself).

However, I have read a lot of people say go for a Makita? Is this a better option?

Can I use a DA sander or a similar attachment with the air compressor for the buffing / polishing process if I decide to pain it myself?

Plus, what grit sandpaper should I go with?

Thanks Again!

That's a no no according to in info I've read at http://www.autobodystore.com/cgi-bin/config.pl?index

You can do a search on the subject there.

After reading this and your previous post, you would do well to go find someone to do the work for you. I don't think you are quite ready for this kind of project.

Ya can't buff w/a DA. Maybe a rental sander/polisher would do the trick. Utoh gonna buff your self. It's easy after some practice. Use an old car or fender to try out first.
