70 Malibu

You know these things don't have an interior hood release. Just the one outside. Is there a fancy way of adding a lock or something to keep the neighborhood critters out of it? I just bought a new optima, demon, rpm intake, mallory hei, and valve covers for it. The car has to sit in the driveway for now. Don't want my parts to run off without my car.

Suggestions?

This subject came up last week and I suggested a Hood lock/killswitch combo that JC Whitney offers. The mfg. is Wolo and I installed mine last year. The unit comes with a vending type key and mounts inside under the dash area.
I was happy with the quality and the price was reasonable.

I use a bicycle chain lock, which consists of a simple vinyl sleeve covered chain and a padlock. I thread the chain through the hood mounted part of the hood latch until equal lengths of chain hang down on each side. I then close the hood while guiding the chain down on each side of the center grille support. With the hood closed I attach the padlock from the bottom. The hood can only open maybe 1/2". Maybe keeps the honest people honest.

thank you gents.

The bike lock has been considered but was looking for something a little more permanent. No modern dual latch hood release systems found to have worked yet? I will probably do that for a temp

Hadn't seen that system you were talking about sb70. Looks like a reasonably priced system.

How about installing SS hood pins and using a little padlock instead of the clips? Works for me (my pins were stock, though).

I bought a hood of a 1970 SS that has locks where the hood pins should come through. I have not really checked it out yet (haven't used it yet). They look like vending machine locks. I don't think they were stock at all. Somebody must sell them.
