I'm going to sandblast my old car trailer and am looking for a primer and paint with resistance to the elements as the only concern. I'm not concerned with a shiny color but I do want it red. The only painting I have done are chassis parts, with PPG Dp 90 black epoxy primer because a guy had told me it gives a "factory type" look and is pretty durable. Any opinions on a good primer/paint for the old trailer?

If you want to do the best possible, etch prime it (a vinyl wash would be the best) epoxy prime and a urethane black top coat. That is about as bullit proof as you can get.

I used Sherwin Williams industrial coating for structural steel. First the primer and then the topcoat. Don't know if red is available though, I used black, after 6 years it looks good and no rust. This will be less expensive than the epoxy/urethane but won't look as good.

You are right on the money, but the UroPrime needs to be sanded, if you epoxy prime no sanding is nessisary if you whoot the top coat color within the recommended "window" (ussually 24 hours).
