How long do you guys wait after laying down the last coat of primer before sanding & shooting the paint? I've already shot and block sanded 4 times and the body in my opinion is near perfect, then I shot one last coat. I plan on wet sanding the last coat with 400 then sealer and paint. I was just wondering if waiting a few days or weeks would bring out any filler problems that can be corrected on the last wet sanding session...

It depends greatly with the type of primer being used, what are you using?

Hey guys, I was wondering the same thing here. Im prepping up. Does primer color make a huge difference, or is it mostly the base coat? Maybe thats too broad a question. Nice site Lee :D

How long a process did you go through painting that 70'? Not including any body work. I hear alot about people waiting too long or not long enough after primers and base coats, theres alot to learn. graemlins/hurray.gif

KDA 2000 DTM primer, I'm not familiar with this product but I assume it is a direct to metal primer (DTM), From what I know of the current House of Kolor primers available, most of them are an epoxy based product which mean they are a catalyzed primer. Refer to the tech sheets for proper cure time relavent to temperature. Most paint & primer products need a minimum of 60degrees F to cure within the advertised window. And from what I've been told every 10 degree drop in temp from 60 doubles the time needed to cure. In my opinion waiting a week before the final sanding is optimum, you will notice a difference in hardness with the primer after waiting a week vs. next day sanding, indicating that indeed the primer is fully cured. Just my opinion here, others may differ. Bob
